FX Dirt is the of clean movie dirt. This light brown colored, extremely fine powder fluffs and flows nicely and disperses well in air. It’s made from diatomaceous earth – the microscopic fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard shelled algae! This is a very "clean" type of dirt product, containing amorphous silica and calcium bentonite clays to retain dryness. There is less than 1% harmful crystalline silica in our FX Dirt, which makes this the perfect product when dust and dirt are required for use on set.
FX Dirt can also be used in compressed air hoppers and ejectors to create blast effects. It is non-flammable and is not sensitive to static discharge. It can be dusted onto set pieces to age a set instantly, and is commonly sifted onto wardrobe to produce that great impact dust cloud that you see during fight scenes!
FX dirt is a very valuable product to have on hand; and now, we are able to bring it to you at prices that are lower than any other leading FX supplier! So low, in fact, that other FX companies buy our product and re-package it for sale at their own, higher prices!
Please take caution when using and avoid breathing dust. Use of NIOSH/OSHA approved respirators for silica bearing dust is always recommended.
